Green Tea to Avoid Seasonal Colds

Welcome Faithful Teacup Friends to

"Green Tea to Avoid  Seasonal Colds"!

The weather has turned fallish and my family has been battling the germs of the season.  I am feeling tired and am trying to fight off the cold symptoms too.

Even my wee grand daughter has the sniffles.

Isn't a hot cup of tea soothing for whatever ails?
 (Especially for a sore throat?)

Today I am having a cup of green tea.  My daughter's boyfriend believes it helps him avoid getting the cold and flu. Since he is a Teacher on Call he needs something to keep him healthy.

Did you know that green tea may actually help you avoid these bugs?

Green tea is known to have many properties that can help keep you in tip-top health – and therefore better prepared to ward off cold and flu bugs. The jury is out on how many cups of tea are optimal, but 2-3 per day are often recommended. If you do come down with cold or flu symptoms (or feel them coming on), consider 3-4 cups of green tea per day to expedite ridding your body of those nasty bugs and give your body’s defenses an extra jolt.

Well, treasure hunting can always make one feel better too!  Lol.

I felt especially lucky to find this pretty Aynsley teacup at Value Village last week for $9.95.  I couldn't resist because I had another matching minty green one at home.

The Gibson's teapot Made in England is one of my favourites.

This is the other dainty teacup that I found that day at Value Village.  It is not an Aynsley but a Foley.

All of  the teacups on the stand are Aynsleys.
(sorry about all of the dark pics)

  1. Hello Karen:
There are so many pretty pink and green pieces here. I especially loved the little plate with the rose on it - hand painted I see. Your teapot and cups and saucers are wonderful I love it all Karen! So glad you shared or are about to share!

  2. Hi Karen,
Your Gibson teapot is a show stopper. So elegant with the gold and unique shape. I also like your new Aynsley's shape as well. You certainly did well at Value Village. I do drink green tea whenever I feel a cold coming on or at the start of a sore throat. I thought it was in my mind that it made me feel a bit better. Guess now there is some research backing my claim. My favorite green tea is Genmaicha. It is a hearty green with roasted rice. Great for cold nights.

  4. Hi Karen,
What an absolute plethora of beautiful china here! I love your corset shaped teacups! Aynsley is such a lovely maker and the Foley is a beauty as well. The colours are gorgeous! Cute little plate too and oh my, your teapot is a gem! Lots to love here today. I really like your teacup stand and I would love to find one.
I hope you are feeling better soon.

We are having some very nice weather the past few days but we've got three systems coming our way tomorrow and it's not going to be fun! We're expecting high winds and over one hundred mm. of rain over the next three days. Everyone is a bit nervous of it.

Take care, my friend, and thank you for sharing your pretties with us.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  6. Lovely collection. Thank you for sharing. I will be adding green tea to my -staying well arsenal. I have been taking black elderberry syrup during the cold/ flu season. I do not know if it helps, but it is tasty. Since it has C and zinc it must do me some good. Cheers!

  7. Such lovely teacups with saucer and teapots. The beaded pink shade on your lamp is an exact match to the one I have on an old floor lamp!!

  10. 'Tis the season for bugs and viruses! My co-worker caught a nasty cold over the weekend and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't catch whatever she has (she's been diligent about using hand sanitizer and disinfecting everything she touches). But just in case, I'll drink some green tea this week to boost my immune season!

Your Aynsley teacups are stunning! I saw some lovely Aynsley teacups for only $2 (!!!) at a church rummage sale last weekend. But silly me was trying to be good (I'm running out of storage so I'm only trying to get teacups of particular colours!) and I hesitated...O course, the teacups got snatched up quickly by other people! I should have followed your "Get it or regret it!" mantra.

    1. Thanks for your visit, Karen. Wow, I can't believe that the Sadler teapot was on eBay for that price! I have to admit that I'm an emotional shopper so I usually buy china that I think are pretty, rather than a "good investment". At the same rummage sale, there was a woman behind me who was systematically checking the bottom of each teacup. She must have bought 5-6 teacups and I suspect that she's probably going to resell them for a much higher price!

I've never tried selling items on eBay as it looks too complicated to me and the shipping rates in Canada are ridiculously expensive! So I usually just pass on teawares that I no longer want to my mom (HA!) or to interested family or friends. If there are no takers, then they go charity.

I believe that things happen for a reason and I often find that if I miss out on a great china find, I'll find something even better down the road. So I'm sure another teacup/teapot will come along to steal our hearts. Hee!

  12. Love teacups and teapot! Gorgeous...just sipping out of one would make you feel better. We drink green tea daily...it was also reccomended by our neurologist for my husband's Parkinson's Disease for brain function and it's antioxident properties. Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!
