First of all I want to thank Martha at http://www.marthasfavorites.com/
for her generosity and kindness in parting with one of her pretty Hammersley Teacups! I am very fortunate to be the winner of her Give-Away! Thank you so much Martha! I will treasure it always. I will feature this dainty Hammersley teacup soon!

Did you know that Martha also has a lovely vintage shop:

The sun is shining brightly at the castle window. It is rather chilly out; winter is definitely on its way! I thought some pics with the sunlight would help to brighten our day.
On the weekend I visited one of my favourite thrift stores, "Second Chance" in Lynden, Washington.
I found this pretty blue Royal Grafton Teacup.
This vintage teacup has a large blue flower in the centre of the inside cup and has a background in a soft sky blue colour. The heavy gold gilt filigree designs and trim provide a striking contrast.
The additional gold gilt on the rim of the teacup and saucer provide that extra touch of elegance.
It was $7.99.
The other collectible teacup that I have chosen today is not a matched set.
I knew that this Coalport cup had been well-loved because the gold was a little worn off when I found it at a thrift shop many years ago.
The very old Royal Leighton Ware saucer isn't a perfect match, but don't you think it is similar to the teacup?
The blue and pink floral cream and sugar are also Made in England.
This blue Grindley coffee pot accents the blues in the cream and sugar so shall we use it for our tea?
Please try some tasty poppyseed or chocolate cake.
Thank you for visiting me today for
A Pink and Blue Tea!
See you soon!
Karen

ReplyDeleteDear Karen,
ReplyDeleteThat Grafton teacup literally took my breath away. It is Gorgeous! I have never seen one like that. Special beyond words. The gold and flower decorating the inside is just magnificent. Very, very. very special.
Enjoy it and your Thanskgiving, Ruthie from Lady B's Time for Tea
I enjoyed your pink and blue tea. The tea cup from Martha is lovely and your Royal Grafton cup is quite a find. I enjoy mixing and matching -- love the pink. Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Tea Day!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Karen,
ReplyDeleteYour day out on the west coast is much the same as ours here on PEI, very dreary. But tea always makes us smile! Your Royal Grafton teacup is exquisite and took my breath away! What a stunner! The price is hard to beat. Mix and match always makes a tea table more interesting, don't you think? Your cake looks good and I'm so glad you have shared this with us at Tea Time. Congratulations on winning Martha's teacup too! Have a lovely week.
Blessings,
Sandi
Hello Karen,
ReplyDeleteYour newest tea cup is totally gorgeous! And what a deal you got it for : ) Yay!
It is indeed striking. I have not seen that effect in the bottom of the cup before. I am very tickled for you. Your mismatched set is wonderful and romantic, I would not have noticed it was two different pieces.
Thank you for sharing your lovely sunny tea today. It is cold today here, but the sun is hiding behind the clouds. I do not mind as I would love a few flurries before Thanksgiving, just for the effect.
Hugs,
Terri
I love all these cups and saucers and that cup matches the saucer so pretty. I am so glad you won Martha's drawing! Lovely piano too and a lovely room!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, I love that Grafton tea cup to the max. That is so beautifully opulent. Your whole home looks lovely and I bet you loved having your tea today. I think our sunshine might be over for a bit. From here I can see Vancouver Island and see the clouds moving in something fierce. Oh well, there's always the lovely hot tea. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a serious bout of coveting going on here. That Royal Grafton teacup is amazing !
