A Cottage Kitchen Reno and Tea

Hello Teacup Friends

Welcome to

"A Cottage Kitchen Reno and Tea!"

Do you remember me telling you that since Hubby retired I have been busy helping him with cottage renovations?

Well, the cottage kitchen renovations are completed.

We started by painting the inside of the cupboards and then adding new white shelves.

We then removed all of the cabinet doors and began the process of sanding and adding glass to four of the upper cabinets and beadboard to the rest.

We caulked the beadboard and painted the cupboards with Cloverdale paint to get a smooth result.  It isn't a bright white but I think it's perfect.

Hubby even added knob feet, a corbel and an applique by request :)

This was the oak kitchen before the makeover.

It was a lot of work but now my kitchen seems beachier, fresher and cleaner and more cottagey.

And now we can relax and enjoy our tea .....

I am enjoying pink and turquoise in the kitchen.

The teapot today
is the palest of turquoise.

The Paragon teacup is a little deeper tone of turqoise.

Thank you for joining me today for

  1. Karen,
The kitchen looks awesome. Love the glass doors you put on some of the cabinets. Very pretty and love your chandeliers.

  2. Your kitchen reno looks lovely. So bright and airy. We are hoping to do ours next summer. It is a scary thought.

  3. Wow, what a big difference it made! Transforming your cupboards into white was great, you are right, it is more refreshing and beachier - i have the same cup boards as your old ones... I'm inspired :-) Adding the glass doors also made it more beautiful. Great job!

  4. Oh Karen, what a wonderful transformation on your kitchen!!! You and your dear hubby did a fabulous job in brightening up the space. I'll bet you so enjoy having your tea in that lovely area. Your teacups are beauties that you've shared with us. Thank you for sharing your beautiful renovation.

  5. Hi, I' m back! What a great job!!! Your kitchen looks awesome now. Amazing transformation. Everything is more refreshing and shabby chic. Very well done!

  6. Lovely job. I do like your open shelves to display your pretty china! Turquoise is blue, so I love your teacup and teapot and the roses are a lovely contrast. So pretty! Thanks for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea1

  7. Your before and after photos are so great. The after pics are just beautiful and a very successful redo. What a lovely place to have tea and view your handy work. The turquoise tea set is just so sweet with the the white cabinets! Have a great week!

    Take care, Pam

  8. Wow! What a lot of work! Your kitchen looks great ... perfect for the cottage feel. Your teacup and teapot are lovely -- they look great in your new kitchen. Happy Tea Day!

  9. Oh, I do love a white kitchen, Karen! Yours looks wonderful. Hubby and I were going to paint our oak cabinets but my back problems have put the kibosh on that. They will have to stay this way and maybe our next home will have white cabinets. When we first bought our home, I had a turquoise/aqua and pink kitchen which I also had flow into the dining and living rooms. Sometimes I still miss it. Love your turquoise teacup. Thank you for joining me for tea and Happy Canada Day, my friend!

  10. Your kitchen looks lovely! I know from recent past experience how much work goes into painting cabinets. We made that decision a few months ago, and now our builder-basic oak cabinets are all lovely dressed in light gray. Those turquoise teacups are beautiful.

  11. Well done on the kitchen makeover, Karen! I'm definitely a fan of the lighter colour scheme. I also love the turquoise teawares this week. Happy Tea Day!

  12. Oh Karen! What a beautiful kitchen! Painting the cabinets white really makes a difference! I would love to paint the cabinets in my farm kitchen, but hubby does not want me to! Aqua and pink are so pretty together and your teapot and cups are so lovely. Thank you for sharing your kitchen redo! Have a wonderful 4th!
    Hugs, Nancy

  15. Karen: What beautiful results for your kitchen. Your husband did a great job. I love it all with the red transferware.

  16. I love your pretty cottage kitchen Karen. It is bright, fresh and very charming. You guys did a great job. I am sure it was a lot of work but I can just imagine your smile when you sit in that pretty space.
